🦃 Fall Break Survival Tips (That Don’t Involve Screens All Day)

Fall Break is right around the corner—and if you're anything like me, you’re juggling keeping the kids entertained while also trying to get a few things done (or maybe just enjoy your coffee while it’s still hot ☕).
Let’s be honest: it’s so easy to hand over the tablet and let the hours pass, but if you’re looking for screen-free ways to keep your kids moving, smiling, and using their imaginations during break—I've got you covered!
Here are a few of my favorite Fall Break Survival Tips (tried, tested, and mom-approved):
🍂 1. Get Outside (Even If It’s Just the Backyard)
Create a “leaf maze” or obstacle course
Go on a color hunt (find something red, yellow, orange, brown, etc.)
Take sidewalk chalk to the next level with hopscotch challenges or drawing pumpkins
🎨 2. Theme Days at Home
Kids LOVE a good theme. Pick a new one each day:
“Wacky Workout Wednesday” – Create your own family ninja course
“Make & Bake Monday” – Let the kids help in the kitchen
“Throwback Thursday” – Teach them games YOU played as a kid (think Duck Duck Goose, Freeze Tag, or even just a fort made of blankets!)
🧠 3. Create a “Break Bucket List”
Sit down as a family and brainstorm 5–10 things they’d love to do during Fall Break.Simple is better: build a Lego tower, try a new snack, learn a new trick on the trampoline, paint rocks, or write a letter to Grandma.
Giving kids a say in their day = fewer meltdowns and more ownership!
🤸♀️ 4. Join Us at Fall Break Camp!
If you need a few hours (or full days) for work, errands, or simply a breather, our Fall Break Camp at Tumble Shine is the perfect win-win.
🗓️ October 6th–10th | 7:30 AM–6 PM👧 Ages 5–12🎉 Tumbling, Ninja, Trampoline, Crafts, Games & SO many smiles💻 Must pre-register at TumbleShine.com
You’ll love how active and engaged they are. They’ll love that it doesn’t feel like “just another daycare.” It’s energy-burning, confidence-building, and tons of FUN.
💙 5. Lower the Pressure
This one’s for you, parents: Fall Break doesn’t need to be picture-perfect or packed with Pinterest-worthy plans.
Kids don’t need perfection—they need presence. A few fun memories, some movement, and space to explore is all it takes to make the week magical.
If you’re local to Berea or surrounding areas, we’d love to welcome your child to Fall Break Camp this October. And even if you’re staying home, we’re cheering you on.
Here’s to less stress, more smiles, and a Fall Break that actually feels like a break.
