💗 Preschoolers & Love: What They’re Really Learning in February

Valentine’s Day might come once a year, but the lessons of love, kindness, and independence are things we focus on all month long in our Preschool Tumble Shine classes. 💕
Sure, there are heart-shaped crafts and lots of pink and red everywhere—but what your preschooler is learning this February runs much deeper than glitter and glue.
💞 Love from a Distance: Letting Go & Gaining Confidence
For many preschoolers, just stepping into class without mom or dad is a huge milestone. In February, we talk with our littlest athletes about what it means to “love from a distance.”
Through small, consistent routines—like waving goodbye, saying “see you soon,” and celebrating their independence—children begin to understand that love doesn’t disappear just because someone isn’t nearby.
💡 This helps build:
Emotional security
Independence
Trust and resilience
💗 Heart-Themed Movement Builds More Than Muscles
Our heart-themed games and activities are fun on the outside—but packed with developmental benefits!
🌀 Jumping over paper hearts = gross motor development
🎯 Tumbling to “find a match” = problem solving and memory
🎨 Heart crafts = fine motor strength + creativity
We use every opportunity to blend movement, emotion, and learning. Your preschooler thinks they’re playing… but their body and brain are growing in BIG ways!
✨ Growing Emotional Awareness (Through Play!)
Preschoolers are just learning how to name their feelings—let alone regulate them. In February, we talk about:
What makes us feel loved
How we can show love to others
The importance of kindness and using gentle hands
These lessons aren’t just told—they’re built into movement games, story time, and class routines.
When a child comforts a friend or encourages a classmate, we cheer just as loudly as we do for a successful cartwheel.
💡 What This Means for You at Home
You may notice your child using new phrases like “I love you, even when I miss you,” or showing interest in writing cards or making art for others. That’s all part of the process—and it’s amazing to watch!
We encourage you to reinforce these lessons at home with:
Short love notes in lunch boxes
“Kindness jobs” like helping a sibling
Talking about how we care for people even when we’re apart
